(Reverend) Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy

The thing I find most compelling about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the thing that is most overlooked about his mission and his legacy is that he was the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  In an age where pastors are pushed to the outskirts of relevancy in popular culture, we celebrate a day named after a pastor.  We celebrate a pastor who used the words of the Bible, a book scorned by popular culture as promoting bigotry and ignorance, who committed his life to following Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and taught others the same, something seen as offensive to popular culture today–whose faith propelled him to do exactly what the Bible told him to do: end injustice.

I am so grateful for Rev. King’s faith in Jesus Christ, which propelled him to lead a nation to see racial inequality and to take steps toward remedying it.
