Wesley Hill is a gay, celibate Christian. While I can’t speak for all people in all places, his 2010 book Washed and Waiting: Reflections on Christian Faithfulness and Homosexuality was groundbreaking in my corner of biblically conservative evangelicalism. In a topic that had become bifurcated into only two camps, Wesley presented a third camp: Christians […]

Noah sits down to talk with Todd Wilson about God’s design for sex within marriage between a man and a woman–balancing the need to hold on to biblical truth while holding on to biblical compassion for those who identify as gay or as same sex attracted.
The topics of gender dysphoria, transgender issues, homosexuality, pornography, and sex outside of marriage are all discussed. Also discussed is how the Church must do a better job in talking about sex and in providing a supported lifestyle path of community for those who are committed to living a single, celibate life.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Defunding is all the rage these days. After consistently mocking the concern for black lives, Christians finally rallied their efforts to defund The Babylon Bee, a popular satire website ran by politically conservative white guys who use a lot of words from the Bible.
The Bee made its name years ago with genuinely funny articles poking fun at the quirks of being Calvinist or Baptist, repetitious Chris Tomlin choruses, and smoke machines used in worship sets.
Chapter 2 has an intriguing title, “The Sexuality of Jesus.” I don’t want to say that it didn’t live up to its name. As I read Mere Sexuality, I’m realizing there are 3 categories that the broad term “sexuality” encompasses. One is gender / transgenderism, one is orientation / LGBTQ+, and the other would be what is sometimes called “sexual purity,” more or less meaning pornography, sex before marriage, lust, etc.
Wilson and I are both heterosexual, married men who love Scripture, pastor churches, and love people. So there is a compassionate ache for those who struggle with gender identity or with same sex attraction, but also the conviction that Scripture is the inspired and authoritative word of God and you can’t pick and choose the parts you like and don’t like.
